Serena is currently a doctoral student in acousmatic composition with Jonty Harrison at the University of Birmingham. She composes for multi channel systems, creating surround sound environments using original sound recordings that are then transformed using computer processing techniques. Serena studied a Masters by independent Study in Music Technology and Innovation at De Montfort University with John Young. Here she focused on combining extended vocal techniques and multi speaker systems in live and pre-recorded works. De Montfort University is also where she studied her BA, achieving a first class honours degree.

Serena has always enjoyed music and initially trained in classical music on the Leicestershire School of Music Special Music Course attaining Grade 8 piano with distinction and Grade 5 in singing and tenor saxophone. She currently sings and perform with the folk duo Inisfree, with singing partner Patrick Devine Wright, who is a national competition winner in Irish Gaelic singing and has performed in Riverdance and with the irish singing group Anuna.

 Serena is also a BBC trained journalist having worked with the BBC as a local radio news preporter and presenter at BBC newsrooms across the UK. She also worked at Yorkshire Television as a GMTV newsreader and presenter of the regional evening news programme, Calendar, where she co-presented with Richard Whiteley. Serena has also co-hosted a regional schools game show with Carol Vorderman called ‘On Your Marks’.
